Dolby Digital Live For Audigy Hotfix (Wow Quick Fix Creative)

So like I was trolling over at the Creative forum yesterday. A guy called cineq was unable to install the Dolby Digital Live pack on his Audigy 4. I hadn’t got around to testing it on Audigy 4, and so it seems Creative forgot to also. Anyway here’s what cineq found.

The problem is Creative omitted one important “[" in "WebDrv.ini". The line wrong line is:

Hardware.Map10]

and it should be

[Hardware.Map10]

This causes installer can’t detect Sound Blaster Audigy 4.

At this point, all those memories of faulty Creative software returned. I raged a little. I am prone to a little hostile forum activity sometimes. I posted a link to the developer forums and added probably a little too much extra.

……”It may be worth submitting on the developer forums. I say “may be” because “maybe” somebody will actually read it.”……

Then 23 minutes later something strange happened. The Creative moderator announced not only a fix in the works -but an actual Dolby Digital Audigy 4 Hotfix update version DDL_PCAPP_LB_3_00-01a.exe!

Could this really be true? Has the Creative Labs support system really been improved? It would be truly great if that was true. I might actually consider using their hardware again. Imagine the possibilities; drivers that actually get fixed?

I find myself actually congratulating Creative Labs. They’ve restored some of my faith, but there’s still a lot of work to be done on their software.

Fix the signal loss issue everyone has in DDL_PCAPP_LB_3_00_01b.exe please!

You can download the latest version of Audigy DDL from here.
